Youth Leaders Program
RHI's Youth Leader program is a four-month training in basic employment and leadership skills for teenagers who have never worked. The training exposes participants to RHI's four pillars of programming through group building and teamwork activities, interactive workshops, and community-focused projects. After completing the paid training, teenagers can apply for outside jobs or apply to work at RHI as a Peer Health Educator, Peer Counselor, RHI Ambassador, or RHI Radio Intern.
Summer Job Placement
RHI places Red Hook youth in over 50 jobs each summer. We have connections to SYEP, local placements at community organizations and businesses, and NYCHA summer jobs. Young people are also hired into our own Youth Leader Program.

Basic Employment Support Services
Young people are supported in the following:
- resume and cover letter preparation,
- identifying summer and college internships,
- learning and perfecting interview skills,
- navigating the on-line job application process, and
- learning how to network.
• Tuesdays 3pm - 5pm (14 - 18 year olds); 5pm - 7pm (19 - 24 year olds)
Career Days
RHI hosts two career days each year. Young people learn about careers through a panel discussion and then talk one-on-one with professionals about the ups and downs of their jobs. This interactive forum is motivating and inspiring.
