Educational Advocacy

RHI assists participants with the following:

  1. advocating with teachers and guidance counselors for youth who are struggling in school,
  2. finding appropriate educational placements if a school transfer is needed,
  3. assisting young people who have dropped out of school to re-enroll,
  4. helping parents who need assistance advocating for their child,
  5. creating study plans or behavior modification tools.
• Walk-in / By appointment.

Tutoring

Tutoring is provided daily during after school hours in individual and small group settings. Subject areas include: math, Spanish, reading, writing, Regents exam preparation, GED and SAT test preparation.
• Monday - Friday 3pm - 7pm, Saturday by appointment.

College Preparation

RHI has a college readiness program that assists young people with the following:

  1. managing a college search from start to finish,
  2. registering for the SATs,
  3. applying to colleges,
  4. identifying and applying for scholarships and financial aid,
  5. taking college exploration trips, and
  6. providing support and assistance once a student is attending college.
• Offered daily; trips and college panels at various times throughout the year.

Middle School Academic Enrichment Program

RHI offers a comprehensive after school program for middle school students three days a week at Brooklyn School for Collaborative Studies. The program offers homework help, academic enrichment, art, theater, group-based projects, and a games invention program. Each student sets their own academic or team work goals and staff work with them to acheive success. This program is funded by DYCD.
• Tuesday, Thursday 3:30 - 5:30pm; Wednesday 12:45 - 3:00pm

GED Classes

RHI partners with the Fifth Avenue Committee to offer GED classes three days a week. Classes are free of charge for those 18 and older.
• Tuesday - Thursday, 9:00am - 12:00pm
